apple iphone
Since the launch of Apple iPhone 3G on July 11th 2008, there have been a flurry of complaints from disappointed users that started off with the malfunction of the MobileMe Application and progressed further with the structural defects that started to deface the iPhone 3G.
Now with all the technical issues as well as the structural defects that have started to pop with the new iPhone 3G, here at TechDrunk we finally decided to make our readers aware of the flaws that they will get, along with the stupendously expensive package of the Apple iPhone 3G. Here are some of the most ugly facts that would make you think twice before you go for the new iPhone 3G:

Limited Third Party Applications:

This is one area, that would most obviously make a lot of consumers really mad at Apple. These days, smart phone are meant to support third party applications and that is one of the main reasons that they sell so much. Though iPhone 3G might be able to support such apps, but then if there is limitation of running one app at a time, thus limiting your multi-tasking abilities.

Applications & Music are iTunes Dependant:

In most smart phones, you simply transfer an application and the phone automatically installs it. But when it comes to iPhone 3G, you have to move with a laptop practically everywhere if you need to install an application. This is one of the biggest flaws of the Apple iPhone 3G, due to which a user is totally dependent upon iTunes to install and enjoy an application. The same goes for the music and videos as well. You want to store a song you like, or a video, then you have to have iTunes at your work, home, friend’s house, whereever you go.

Useful Applications are being left Behind by Apple:

Apple has been doing a really bad job at the selection of applications that are released to the consumers. Due to reasons known only to the Apple management, some of the most useful iPhone 3G apps are now being replaced with useless ones that do not do any good to the user experience.

Copy Paste Not Allowed:

If you have composed a full length e-mail using iPhone 3G and then you try to copy-paste it somewhere, then you are in for a surprise. It’s not going to happen! iPhone 3G does not allow copy-paste in the phone. This leaves the user with no option but to compose the material all over again. Creative writers, Better Watch Out!.

Insufficient Bluetooth Capabilities:

We do not see the logic of instilling a new technology half-heartedly, as Apple has done with the iPhone 3G. Although the new iPhone has been incorporated with Bluetooth, still the primary function of transferring files over the air is absent. To add to the Bluetooth fiasco, other user friendly features such as A2DP support and Stereo Bluetooth are also nowhere to be seen. So, what we are left with, is a Bluetooth feature that is good only as a wireless headset and nothing more.

MMS not Available:

Although MMS or multimedia messaging is not that prevalent among the Indian consumers, still if Apple would have featured the MMS service support in iPhone 3G, it would have been really great. So in short, MMS is not available in the new iPhone 3G.

Video Recording Absent:

This is one fact that is really, really hard to fathom. iPhone 3G without video recording capabilities is as good as a plastic piece of junk, especially after the overly publicized YouTube integration into the iPhone 3G.

No Voice Activated Commands:

The feature of voice commands has become such a common occurrence in smart phones these days, that people don’t even ask whether this feature is available or not, because it is presumed that VC will be there. But Apple has somehow managed to give the consumers one more reason not to buy Apple iPhone 3G. With the slick touchscreen and loads of features, Apple has left behind VC. Either, it just didn’t want to put in that feature or it just simply “forget”.

iPhone 3Gs Come Locked to Carriers:

We’re sure at some point of time, you might had to use a different SIM card for one reason or another. But, with the Apple iPhone 3G, you cannot use another SIM with this phone, as iPhone 3G come locked with the carrier that you’ll buy through. So, even after spending huge amounts of money for the Apple iPhone 3G, you still do not own it.

Still, we would say that Apple iPhone is a truly amazing gadget and a great gizmo for a style statement. But, function-wise this phone lacks more than it has to offer.
