Apple has introduced the Mac OS X Snow Leopard, which is a refined version of the previous range Mac OS X Leopard. The company is planning to introduce the new version as an upgrade in the month of September, 2009 at an affordable price of Rs. 1380.

Acer Reduces the Price of EL-1600

Acer has recently revised the price of its entry-level desktop EL-1600 that would now be available at a price of Rs. 9,999 (excluding monitor) in the Indian markets.
“We are confident that the price revision of EL-1600 will definitely attract consumers who want an affordable price along with advanced specifications. Our experts have not done any compromise with the MNC standards of the desktop. Our PC penetration rate is more than 3 percent in the market today it will definitely go up after the price reduction”, said S. Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer, Acer India. Read more
Apple Introduces New Members in MacBook Pro Family

Apple has updated its MacBook Pro line by introducing 13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch models with 40 percent longer battery life. The newly introduced MacBook Pro includes an LED-backlit display, glass multi-touch trackpad, FireWire 800 port, SD card or Express Card slot, illuminated keyboard and NVIDIA graphics.
“Our MacBook Pro models will now have Apple’s in-built battery that gives up to 7 hours of support while its size will stay just as thin and light as it was before. Available at an approx starting price of Rs.57,000, the aluminum body MacBook Pro is more affordable and is setting a new standard for environment friendly notebook design”, said Philip Schiller, Senior VP, Apple. Sony Introduces VAIO NW Series Notebooks

Sony has launched the new line of notebooks “the VAIO NW Series”. The lifestyle oriented notebooks have 2-tone color, a clear touch pad, Intel Pentium Processor T4200, wireless LAN and Bluetooth, 15.5 inch real wide screen and a pre-installed Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit.
Here are some other features of the laptops series:
- It has a quick web access function where you don’t have to wait for the operating system to load. All this is done in a single push.
- The display off button conserves the electricity as the user can turn off the screen while the notebook will continue to function.
- Amazon MP3 application is pre-installed in the phones.
- A unified “search/url” bar for the “Go” browser is present that defaults to the Google search.
- Phones have a nice way to display embedded YouTube videos, which are clickable.

Apple’s Safari 4 Released for Mac and Windows

Apple has released Safari 4, the next version of its web browser at the Worldwide Developers Conference, 2009. The newly launched web browser is meant for Mac and Windows users. It is said that Safari runs 50 percent faster in 64-bit systems.
Apple released Safari with 150 new features back in the month of February. The new browser has come in time just following the launch of the two new browsers Google Chrome 2.0 and Opera 10 Beta. The Microsoft’s I.E. 8 that has failed the Acid 3 tests is also in the market and Mozilla’s Firefox 3.5 RC version is expected to be launched soon. Read more
