Microsoft Could Launch Smartphone-Rumors?

US based software giant Microsoft is thought to be using the Mobile Word Congress (MWC), in order to launch its smartphone this month!

According to Doug Freedman, who is an analyst at Broadpoint AmTech, it is possible that this smartphone may be arrayed with nVidia’s Tegra processor and a telecommunications baseband chip from Qualcomm. But there is no confirmation from any official source till now.

Rumors surfaced last year that the software giant would launch it somewhere in January, but that never happened. Doug now believes that it will happen at MWC in Barcelona.

Microsoft declined to address the rumor in a direct manner. “We have nothing to announce at this time. We continue to collaborate with nVidia on the delivery of innovative solutions that move the smartphone industry and the consumer experience forward,” Scott Rockfeld, director of Windows Mobile, said.

nVidia also declined to come out with any official statement. But another analyst said it would be foolish for Microsoft if it comes out with its own smartphone. He said that such a move from their side could backfire on them, said Jack Gold, principal analyst at J Gold Associates.

“They haven’t set the world on fire with Zune. Why do they think they are going to do any better if they put a phone on it?” he said.
