9-Year Old Lim Ding Wen is iPhone’s Youngest Software Author

Nine year old whiz-kid Lim Ding Wen from Singapore is different from other children of his age group.

He is involved in writing applications for Apple’s iPhone, and his latest project is a painting program called Doodle Kids, that has the record of being downloaded over 4,000 times from Apple’s iTunes store in just two week. His father, Lim Thye Chean, who is a chief technology officer at a local technology firm, also writes iPhone applications.

“I wrote the program for my younger sisters, who like to draw,” Lim said. His sisters are aged 3 and 5.

This super kid, who started on a computer at age 2, has already completed 20 different programs in 6 different programming languages (that also includes Javascript and ActionScript)! That’s a lot to ask for!

“Every evening we check the statistics emailed to us (by iTunes) to see who has more downloads,” his father said.
Cool!
