Google’s Special Offer For US Soldiers Abroad – Call Home Free Through Gmail!

The huge number of US troops serving abroad in various parts of the world now have an opportunity to miss their home less, courtesy Google. The IT giant has come up with a great offer for those brave hearts – to call their home free through Gmail. All that they need is a valid United States Military (.mil) email address. That’s all.

A US troop member has to follow just two steps to avail this service –

  • Adding and validating his .mil email address in Gmail.
  • Initiating a call through Gmail’s dial pad by clicking the ‘Call phone’ link in the Chat sidebar.

It may be noted here that a troop member can use this facility to call his family or friends only in the USA, and not in any other country.

It is often difficult for armed forces members serving overseas to keep touch with their near and dear ones back home. Needless to say that this further aggravates their pain of staying away from their home for days after days. Thankfully, now it will be much easier for them to be regularly in touch with their family, friends and other close ones back home. This in turn will mollify, at least to some extent, the pain of staying miles and miles away from the sweet home that awaits them so dearly.
