World’s Smallest 3D Cameras- DSC-TX9 & DSC-WX5: The Latest Gadget In Town

From movies to Television and now cameras, 3D seems to be the order of the day. Sony recently launched two new Cyber-shot digital still cameras (models DSC-TX9 and DSC-WX5). The cute looking cameras are currently world’s smallest 3D cameras, capturing 3D images with a single lens system using a sweeping motion.

Both models offer a 3D Sweep Panorama feature, which gives one an opportunity to take panoramic pictures in one press-and-sweep motion. The detail-packed 3D panoramas are created automatically because of the high-speed burst of frames which are stitched together using processing techniques. These images can be viewed in 2D or 3D on compatible 3D televisions. One is required to buy the 3D-compatible HDMI cables and 3D glasses which are sold separately.

The DSC-TX9 model has a 3.5-inch 921k resolution LCD touchscreen while the DSC-WX5 model has a 2.8-inch LCD screen. Sweep Multi Angle is another feature which lets one to view moving images on the screens by tilting the camera back and forth. This cameras capture 15 images at different angles at a time and then compiles them into one photo, thereby creating a 3D-like effect. In addition to Sweep Multi Angle, the TX9 and WX5 models are12.2 megapixel cameras offering other features like Background Defocus, which simulates depth of field control and Superior Auto mode, which gives low image-noise levels. AVCHD format, which used in Sony’s high-definition Handycam camcorders, available in the models can record movies in 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolutions in 60i at up to 17Mbps. They can also capture videos in the MP4 format (up to 1440 x1080 30p 12Mbps) and have Optical SteadyShot image stabilization so as to overcome camera shake. The 4x (25-100mm) wide-angle lens helps in capturing a wider view of subject at closer proximity.
