As the data storage for people have become highly crucial, Toshiba has recently announced the introduction of its new line of 2.5-inch hard drives that offer up to 640 GB of storage capacity.
Toshiba is known for small and energy-efficient products. The company claims that, with this line up of HDDs, users will be able to enjoy increased data storage and will benefit from the lower power consumption.
“From cherished family photos and home videos to entertainment collections and personal data files, consumers are creating huge libraries of digital content on their home computers,” Manuel Camarena, product manager for consumer storage at the Toshiba Storage Device Division, said. “But, most people are not taking steps to ensure this valuable content is protected against computer failure. Without a backup solution, consumers have the potential for that crushing moment when they realize all of their memories, entertainment and personal data files are gone. An easy-to-use, high-capacity product such as the Toshiba Portable Hard Drive acts like an insurance policy against the loss of cherished and valuable digital memories.”
This series of hard derives comes in a range of storage capacities, including the 160GB, 250GB, 320GB and 500GB models. Toshiba’s new 640GB hard drive is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. Any computer with an appropriate drive bay and a free SATA I or II port is capable of using the drive. It is available in multiple attractive colors such as White, Blue, Green and Red.
In this MK6465GSX family, the energy consumption has now been raised up to 28%. This family is compliant with various eco-friendly features that include Eurpeon Union’s RoHS directive and halogen free, decreased CO2.
There is not much to report on its pricing and availability in the market, but soon details are expected.
