The world’s lightest notebook is out.

Sony has unveiled the VAIO X Series, which is said to be the lightest notebook in the world. Weighing only 1.6 pounds, the notebook is just half-inch thin that means having the width of a cell phone. The lightest notebook has standard battery, but X Series will also be available with super-extended capacity battery.

Mike Abary, Senior Vice President, VAIO business group said, “What makes X Series an amazing notebook is that it has industry-leading battery life even though it is the slimmest device. The notebook has wireless WAN, which provides you gaming experience similar to what you get on PC.”

X Series has an aspect ration of 16:9 that is packed into a compact 11.1” footprint. The notebook has a scratch resistant LCD display with LED backlight technology.

Uniquely Configured Keyboard

The X Series has a uniquely configured keyboard with spacing between the keys that would provide a comfortable typing experience. The firm and solid keystroke will give a real touch and feel to the user & finding the keys will become more intuitive with this feature.

Touchpad

Featuring multi-touch functionality that is mostly associated with Smartphones, the touchpad of X Series will enable you to zoom in and out, rotate items clock wise, flip through pictures, scrolling horizontally and vertically, without touching the mouse.

Wireless 3G Mobile Broadband Technology

The X Series has an integration of Verizon Wireless Mobile Broadband Built-In, Bluetooth wireless and Wi-Fi (802.11n) technologies, which means you will always be connected.

Real-Time GPS Functionality

Now finding destinations will be quite simple with X Series. You just have to type the address or keyword and then follow the turn-by-turn directions on your notebook. It also has a feature that would tell you the estimated time it will take you to reach the destination. The feature is only accessible in United States or Canada and you don’t require any Internet connection for this.

Battery

The X Series comes with standard and super-extended capacity batteries. Standard battery will have a battery-life of up to 3.5 hours and the super-extended one will give 14 hours back up.
