Sony has announced the update of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) for Xperia Active smartphone. The update will roll out in batches and will require time for the effect to take place depending on the geographical area of the users. On the arrival of the update, the users will get a notification on their handset. For those who are quite anxious about their update can check and confirm through the PC Companion Suite. Sony has displayed a series of SI numbers which will receive the update. The SI number is mentioned inside the phone. The website shared information about the update for their users stating, ” The Ice Cream Sandwich software update for 2011 Xperia Smartphone’s is now being rolled out. The update is released in batches, and below you will find links to each phones list of all the currently released ICS software’s. Since there are minor differences in the software depending on product, country and operator we have a unique identifier that we call Sales Item (SI). If you find your SI in the released software table the software for your device is released and available in PC Companion and Bridge for Mac where you can update your Xperia Smartphone.”
Sony Xperia Active sports a 3 inch capacitive touchscreen which is scratch resistant, dust proof and water resistant. It suns on Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread) and is equipped with a 5 Mega Pixel camera with 8x zoom. The device comes with High Definition video quality with a resolution of 320 X 480 pixels.
