Microsoft’s Windows 7 Launched at a Price Cut in India

Microsoft launched its highly-anticipated product Windows 7 on Thursday 22, October across the world. Now, the company has given a break to Indian market by slashing down the prices of the newly launched product.

As told by Microsoft, more than eight million people have signed up for the Windows 7 beta program, which makes it the most widely-rested beta product offered by the company till date. There are different versions of Windows 7 available in India that are priced lower than the U.S .market.

Here’s the price list:

  • Windows 7 Home Basic – Rs. 5,899
  • Windows 7 Home Premium – Rs. 6,799
  • Windows 7 Professional – Rs. 11,199
  • Windows 7 Ultimate – Rs. 11,799

Although, these prices are lower but Indonesia still seems to be the cheapest market to get Windows 7. The Home Basic package of the produce is available in Indonesia at an approx price of Rs. 4,400.

Microsoft has come up with another good news for the customers who bought Windows Vista or Windows XP after June 26, 2009. There is a free Windows 7 Upgrade Option offered by Microsoft India for consumers who bought PC with Windows Vista Business, Home Premium or Ultimate from a channel partner or a participating OEM after than date.

This update program is available to the Indian consumers and buyers with less than 25 personal computers through participating OEMs including Acer, HCL, HP, Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo, Sony and Wipro. It is also available through channel partners for assembled PCs. The upgrade to Windows 7 will be available from June 2009 through January 31, 2010 globally.

Regarding the rumors of delay of launch Windows 7 in India, Mr. G. Ramesh, Director Windows Client Business Group, Microsoft India said that all the OEMs have started shipping Windows 7 machines beginning Thursday.
