Microsoft’s 20 GB Xbox 360 Console Price Officially Dropped With the Launch of a New 60 GB Version

Microsoft officially announced a price cut of $50 (approx Rs 2140 )for the 20 GB Xbox 360 console. It will now be available at the price of $299 (Rs12,795) from the original $349. Additionally the company also announced the launch of a 60GB Xbox 360 console which is surprisingly priced at $349, the same amount of the 20GB model at its launch.

The upgraded Xbox 360 includes a 60GB hard drive for storing the growing wealth of digital entertainment available for the console, including music, movies, television shows and game content. The 60GB hard drive is the only difference from the original version, otherwise all the other features still remain the same. The upgraded Xbox 360 will be available in retail stores in the U.S. and Canada from the start of August.

Albert Penello, Xbox director of product management at Microsoft reportedly quoted, “We know consumers need more and more space to store the amazing digital content Xbox 360 offers, and we’re giving it to them at no extra charge.” He further added that, “No one device offers the depth and breadth of entertainment that Xbox 360 can deliver, and now you’ll have three times the storage to manage all that great content.”

It is believed that the sale of the 20GB console will last only till it gets out of stock, after which Microsoft will stall its production. However, the Xbox 360 is just one of three Xbox 360 gaming and entertainment systems. Microsoft also offers the Xbox 360 Arcade, which comes with a 256MB memory unit, and another five Xbox LIVE Arcade games which are priced at $279.
