LG Optimus Black Rolls Out Gingerbread OS Update!

LG Optimus Black is a SmartPhone that was released by LG Electronics in 2011. Sure to come as a good news for many Optimus Black users in India AND Europe, LG is now rolling out brand new Gingerbread software update for the SmartPhone.
LG Optimus Black Rolls Out Gingerbread OS Update
LG Optimus Black was one of those SmartPhones that passed relatively unnoticed upon release. When released Optimus Black was loaded with Android v2.2 Froyo OS. Though late as always LG has now decided to give Optimus Black Gingerbread treatment and at the moment its only the users in India and Europe that will be receiving the upgrade.
The software upgrade is available through LG’s software update tool, this upgrade automatically installs the Android v2.3.4 Gingerbread OS on Optimus Black. LG has also issued a change log, to acquaint the users with changes and how it will affect their hand set. The entries made in the change log are:
  • Improved battery life.
  • Enhanced mobile gaming experience.
  • Faster User Interface.
  • One touch word selection and copy/paste.
  • Better download management.
  • New media formats supported like AAC, AVC, MPEG 4 and H.263, but no FLAC support yet.
  • App updates.
  • Pre-loaded Google+.
  • Other improvements include – active app management, shortcuts, widgets, icons, app groups, updated calendar options, camera geo-tagging, better email syncing and more precise camera auto-focus.
Though upgrade is finally made available by LG, to be frank it comes in a bit late. There seems no point in providing a 2.3.4 upgrade when most of the mobiles these days are running on 2.3.7 OS. But still Gingerbread is better than Froyo any given day. LG also announced that ICS upgrade will be provided in third quarter of 2012.
