QuickCam Vision Pro Webcam

June 25, 2008 : Unlike its PC counterpart, Logitech has launched a Mac-compatible Quickcam Vision Pro webcam that does not need a control panel to tweak camera settings. The technology involved integrating the control panel functions directly into the webcam, thus making all the adaptive behavior of the webcam fully automated and transparent to the user.

The Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro webcam for Macs will be available first in the U.S. and Europe early in the month of july at around US $130.

It also features an autofocus technology and Carl Zeiss optics. Measuring 3.54″ long x 1.57″ wide x 1.26″ high (including clip) and weighing 6.17 ounces, the packaging information from the company states the following features:

  • High image quality.
  • 30 frames per second video-recording, possibly in HD.
  • Effective auto-focus.

Technical reviewers states that “While using the webcam, users might be prompted by Logitech’s software to enable “RightLight”, which is their automatic light settings adjustment algorithm. The downside to this is that users cannot hand-tune the image settings. Depending on your particular place of use, that could be useful, as Logitech’s “Rightlight” algorithm doesn’t usually well with a very bright environment. However, the image quality is much better than the first-generation Apple iSight”.

The Quickcam has a sleek design with a black and shiny surface. The webcam’s image quality is reasonably good (for a webcam).

June 26, 2008 by Staff Techdrunk · Leave a Comment

Good news for the Apple iPhone 3G aspirants! Airtel and Vodafone have begun the booking process for the next generation Apple iPhone 3G. So far, both the telecommunication giants haven’t disclosed the prices for the launch of the iPhone 3G. Still you can fill the online pre-registration form.

vodafone iPhoneAirTel iPhone

But, there is a hurdle of the availability of the 3G, that still needs to be crossed by both the cellular operators. As of now, 3G (Third Generation Telephony) is not available in India. The auction of the 3G networking is held back by a critical factor, where the bureaucrats are trying to come to a final conclusion, as to whether or not, foreign companies should be allowed to bid for the license.

Vodafone, on its registration page has already mentioned that the new iPhone 3G will only work on 2G networks in India and also that some of the phone’s features may not work in India.

As these handsets are on a ‘first come & first serve basis’, I would advise our readers to register for their Apple iPhone 3G as soon as possible. So what are you waiting for? Visit these two online venues and pre-register your Apple iPhone 3G today!:

Apple iPhone 3G

Perhaps the hottest topic in the Gadget Town is the launch of the new Apple iPhone 3G, whose launch is date is coming almost knocking on the door. However, in all this excitement and fanfare, there is also a dim news for people who thought they could use their new iPhone with their old 1st generation iPhone docks

The 1st generation iPhone dock is not compatible with the new iPhone 3G. The dock of the iPhone is an multi-purpose instrument that charges the phone’s battery, synchronizes the phone with the computer and for various other activities as well. However, with the Apple iPhone 3G, Apple Inc. has not only incorporated several super-cool features, but has also redesigned the handset in multiple aspects and one of them primarily being the docking port. Also, due to the new slimmer design the dock had to also undergo a change to accommodate the iPhone 3G’s form factor. This means that the iPhone dock and all other accessories purchased for the previous iPhone, would have to be purchased again.
